Dinner for the Week

Is it time for the annual week at the lake with family? Sure, everybody’s excited to hang out together for a number of days, but the food’s a pretty big deal, too. There’s just something about vacation that makes everyone let their hair down, get off the treadmill for a few days, and unwind by bringing their favorite treats. And, let’s be sincere, you understand the suppers are going to be delicious also– since everybody is cooking for everyone. When people pull out the best they’ve got?), (Isn’t that usually.

However, here’s the deal: no one wants to eat the exact same meal twice. If each household takes a supper night, you want to be sure to coordinate because range is the spice of life! How about appointing one of these categories to each night to ensure you will not have any overlap?

BARBEQUE. Traditional, right? Here’s the thing, though: BBQ is simple and it’s a crowd pleaser. It’s no big deal to make something for everybody: toss hamburgers and bratwursts on for the grownups, and grill some hotdogs for the more youthful kids who are primarily going to be playing around anyway. When you have cousins to play with?), (Who can be troubled to consume Another plus about BBQ? Tossing some sides together is actually simple! Chips, watermelon, corn on the cob, macaroni salad, and baked beans are all great ways to settle the meal. And … don’t forget to grab some ice cream bars to stock the freezer for later on in the evening!

Household favorite. Every household has some favorites– you understand, those classic meals that you and your siblings consider when you remember home growing up. Because that’s exactly what mother made every Sunday for years, possibly it’s roast and mashed potatoes. Perhaps it’s your papa’s pork tenderloin or cedar-smoked salmon. It may simply be a well-rounded home cooking dish like homemade pot pie or velvety macaroni and cheese. Whatever it is, delight in the household memories as you consume a household preferred!

Assign a night based around a specific type of food– like Mexican, Italian, or Thai. If it’s Mexican, how about a big pan of cheesy enchiladas and Spanish rice with hot beans? There’s nothing like homemade deep dish lasagna with garlic bread and salad if you’re doing Italian, and it’s pretty tough to beat a good chicken coconut curry over rice if you’re seeming like Thai food.

Crock pot. This one’s always a winner. From savory soups to fall-apart spare ribs, the crockery pot is the way to go– particularly if your group is going to be gone for most of the day. Put whatever in the crock pot when you head out in the early morning, and supper will be super fast to toss together when you get back!

And on your last day? Leftovers. For sure. You likely do not consume whatever when you’re cooking for a bunch of people all week. (It’s not unusual to end and overshoot up with great deals of additional food.) Doing leftovers the night before everybody heads house is a simple way to get rid of the extra food, clear out the refrigerator, and get a much better sense of exactly what will have to get crammed in the coolers in the morning for the trip house.

Gathering for a reunion is all about getting to hang around with people you like, however it’s also about customs, good food, laughter, and making memories. We love all of these things, and as motorcoach companies, we actually delight in offering transport for large family groups. We’d like to make it easy for everyone to ride together for all of your activities if you’re planning your reunion for this summer.
